2024 MTV VMAs K-pop nominees roundup: BTS’ Jungkook gets 2, Blackpink’s Lisa gets 4

The nominees for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) have been announced. On Tuesday, MTV officially revealed the nominations for this year’s awards ceremony. Jungkook, Lisa Nominated

BTS’s youngest member Jungkook has earned two nominations for his solo debut song Seven with Latto. They are nominated in the Best K-Pop and Best Collaboration categories. Blackpink’s Lisa earned four separate nominations for her latest solo song Rockstar. She was nominated in the Best Choreography, Best Editing, Best K-Pop, and Best Art Direction categories.

Other K-pop artists’ nominations

This year, Jungkook’s Seven, Lisa’s Rockstar, TXT’s Déjà Vu, Newseen’s Super Shy, Stray Kids’ Lalalala and NCT Dream’s Smoothie are nominated for Best K-Pop. For Push Performance of the Year (for the song Easy), Le Seraphim received their first VMA nomination.

In the MTV Video Music Award nominations, Taylor Swift leads the pack with 10 nominations – eight for her Fortnite music video and nominations in the Artist of the Year and Best Pop categories. She is followed by her Fortnite collaborator Post Malone, who has been nominated eight times alongside Taylor and earned a ninth nomination for his country hit I Had Some Help with Morgan Wallen.

Nominees in the Artist of the Year category announced Tuesday include Ariana Grande, Bad Bunny, Eminem, Sabrina Carpenter and SZA. Ariana, Sabrina and Eminem are tied with six nominations; Megan Thee Stallion and SZA have five nominations each. Blackpink’s Lisa, Olivia Rodrigo and Teddy Swims are tied for second with four nominations.

About the MTV VMAs

There are 29 first-time nominees this year, including Morgan, Sabrina and Teddy, as well as Benson Boone and Tyla – the latter has three nominations each. First-time nominees in 2024 include Chapel Roan, Coco Jones, Gracie Abrams, Jelly Roll, Jesse Murph, Le Seraphim, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro, Raye, Sexy Red, Shaboozie, Tyla, Tyler Childers, Victoria Monet and more.

The 2024 MTV VMAs will be held at the UBS Arena on Long Island, New York. It will air live on September 10 at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. Fan voting will begin online on Tuesday in 15 gender-neutral categories and end on August 30. Voting in the Best New Artist category will remain active throughout the show.
