The ongoing exhibition Beautiful Black and White at My Lily Pond in Indiranagar takes visitors on an extraordinary journey of monochrome visuals. The exhibition showcases around 50 artworks created by 25 established and emerging artists.
This first-ever monochrome art exhibition was conceptualised and curated by Bengaluru-based artist MG Doddamani, founder of Urja Expressions, an organisation that promotes arts and philanthropy.
“In today’s digital world, you will find a flood of coloured photographs. However, earlier every photograph was black and white, and if you see them today, they remind you of old memories. That is why I decided to bring artists together to showcase the power of monochrome,” Doddamani said, also explaining how the limited colour palette inspires artists to think differently and explore new dimensions.

Kanthimathi Jayachandran, founder of My Lily Pond, says her goal was to create a community for artists, art lovers, and collectors. When asked why she named her gallery Lily Pond, she said, “Just like a lily grows from a pond, art grows from a human being,” adding that since its inception in 2019, the place has created an environment where art is experienced, appreciated, and incorporated into the lives of visitors.
Beautiful Black and White is based on the themes of duality and harmony and some of the artists featured in the exhibition include SG Vasudev, Krishna Shetty, Vijay Hagargundagi, PS Kumar, PB Harsur and Doddamani himself.
The exhibition showcases artworks created using various mediums such as charcoal, graphite, acrylic and ink on paper, canvas and satin. Themes include gods and goddesses, nature, friendship, portraits and more, and the price of the paintings starts from ₹20,000.
