Mumbai: Hollywood star Nicolas Cage’s horror film “Arcadian” will be available for streaming on Lionsgate Play in India, the streamer announced on Friday.
Directed by Benjamin Brewer from a screenplay by Michael Nilon, the film will hit Lionsgate Play on July 19. It will be available in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, the streaming service said in a statement.
Set in a post-cataclysm world filled with ruins and desolation, “Arcadian” stars Cage as Paul, a father willing to do anything to save his family.
The official plotline states, “With their world filled with deadly alien creatures hungry for human flesh, they face a challenge unlike any other. When Paul is mortally wounded battling these creatures, his sons are forced to fight every creature on Earth in hopes of finding a better world for their family.”
Cage, known for his diverse filmography that includes hits such as “National Treasure”, “Con Air” and “Leaving Las Vegas”, said he has been a fan of family drama films such as “Ordinary People” and “East of Eden”.
“I’m also a fan of horror and science fiction, and I thought, “Wouldn’t it be interesting to do a mash-up?” Where you can have a family, especially this dynamic where there’s a dad and two boys, that’s really how I grew up. Sadly, my mom couldn’t be with me as long as I wanted, so my dad did all the heavy lifting. And then you apply that to science fiction,” he said.
“Arcadian” had its world premiere at the South by Southwest festival in March, followed by a theatrical release in the United States in April. The film also stars Jaeden Martell and Maxwell Jenkins.
