Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have set their sights on their cinematic future and made two big announcements that will reshape their upcoming release schedule. At the forefront of this series is an untitled event film Dune Produced by director Denis Villeneuve, the film will be released in IMAX format on December 18, 2026.
While details of Villeneuve’s latest venture are still wrapped in secrecy, there is speculation that it could possibly be an adaptation of Annie Jacobson’s novel. Nuclear War: A Scenario. This Pulitzer Prize-winning author delves deeply into the terrifying visions of global conflict, drawing on exclusive interviews with military and civilian experts deeply involved in the world of nuclear strategy.
Additionally, Legendary Pictures is working closely with Villeneuve. Dune After the phenomenal success of , returns to the universe with the third installment Dune: Part Two earlier this year. Starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Rebecca Ferguson, the sequel grossed a staggering $711 million worldwide, establishing it as a cultural and box office phenomenon.

Warner Bros. also plans to release the next installment of its beloved MonsterVerse franchise on March 26, 2027, following the victory of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empirewhich grossed an impressive $80 million.
Among these announcements, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Locksmith’s animated feature, previously scheduled for March 2027, has been rescheduled for July 23, 2027.
