An unprecedented incident at the Ignite Music Festival in Canada has proven yet again that the Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake feud will never end, even if it disappears from the headlines for a while.
Rick Ross and his peers could never have predicted what was about to befall them when the rapper reportedly took the bold step of playing the Pulitzer-winning artist’s Drake diss track “Not Like Us” in the “Hotline Bling” singer’s home country.
Rick Ross faces the wrath of Drake’s ‘goons’ in Canada for playing Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us”
According to a video shared by DJ Akademiks on social media, Ross was allegedly choked after his performance at the music festival in Vancouver, British Columbia. The “Champagne Moments” singer ended his high-profile set at the multi-starrer event with “Da Boss.” Next, he attempted to play a version of Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” the same song that apparently ended K. Dot and Drizzy’s feud.

However, just moments before, the “Humble” artist fueled the fire again by turning his Pop Out concert at the Forum into a celebration of his victory over Drake and performing the aforementioned track not once, but five times. According to a later tweet from Akademiks TV, Ross’ DJ for the concert, Sam Sneak, was also attacked by this group of people in Vancouver.
Apparently, Ross didn’t get the message, and he probably tried to laugh off the feud between the Big Two (of three) rappers by hitting back in a sarcastic and playful way. A video shared by Akademiks – a broadcaster believed to be in Drake’s closed circle – showed scenes of an escalating confrontation between Ross (and his crew) and individuals associated with Drake’s OVO Sound label on X/Twitter.
“Rick Ross got beaten up by OVO goons for trying to play like we don’t in Canada,” Akademiks tweeted on X.

While some meme-worthy content has emerged during the months-long Drizzy vs. K. Dot feud, many have declared the aftermath an unpleasant downfall for the hip-hop industry. DJ Akademiks seemed to agree with fans’ sentiment. He later tweeted from his personal account, “I think there should be no trolling with anyone singing ‘Not Like Us’ in Canada. Pray for peace y’all. Ross and Drake used to slap. Sad it got to this point.”
Amid Drake’s long-running war of words with several other hip-hop heavyweights, he also exchanged some controversial encounters with Ross in April. The pair, once known for their iconic longtime professional partnership, have taken shots at each other through expletive wars and digs at each other’s personal lives, as heard in the “Push Ups”/”Champagne Moments” exchange.
