Mumbai: The trailer of the upcoming film ‘Kakuda’ starring newly married actress Sonakshi Sinha, Ritesh Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem has been released. In the trailer, it can be seen that the story of the film is about Sunny (played by Saqib Saleem), who is less educated. He loves Indira (played by Sonakshi Sinha).
The two get married and move to Ratodi village, but are cursed by ‘Kakuda’. On their wedding night, Sunny fails to open the small door for Kakuda at exactly 7:15 pm, which brings in the evil ghost named Kakuda into the house, who punishes the head of the house by putting a hump on his back, which keeps growing until his death on the 13th day. To save her husband, Indira seeks help from Victor, an eccentric ghost hunter played by Riteish Deshmukh.
Throwing light on her role, Sonakshi Sinha said, “In the film ‘Kakuda’, I am playing the role of a girl who believes in science and not in superstition.
However, when she encounters this strange ritual, she decides to delve deeper and find out the truth behind it. I must admit that striking a balance between horror and comedy is a challenging task – making people laugh and at the same time sending a chill down their spine is not easy.” For her, shooting for the film was an extremely fun experience, especially because of her co-stars Ritesh, Saqib and Asif, whom she said are very funny in real life too.
The film is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, known for ‘Mauli’, ‘Zombivali’ and the recent hit ‘Munjya’. Riteish Deshmukh said, “I am thrilled to be a part of the unique and eccentric world of ‘Kakuda’. Playing Victor, an unconventional ghost hunter, gave me a chance to bring out a side of my acting abilities that I had not fully explored before.
This character is unlike any other character I have played and that is what makes it so exciting.” “Mixing horror and comedy is a delicate balance and I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with talented co-stars like Sonakshi Sinha and Saqib Saleem. ‘Kakuda’ takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions that will make you laugh as well as scare you,” he added.
