Surfira Movie Review: Akshay Kumar’s film is a story of triumph after pain, sacrifice and challenges.

When a film is remade in Bollywood, it is very easy to find flaws in it. It has happened many times before that people go to watch any remake with a preconceived idea. This is usually the reason why remakes fail at the box office but luckily Akshay Kumar’s ‘Surfira’ is doing well despite being a Hindi remake. Sudha Kangara, the director who made ‘Surai Potru’, has also directed ‘Surfira’ properly, due to which the film, despite being a remake, is very close to the original story. Well, read the full review to know how successful Akshay’s film has been with the acting of the lead actors and the direction of the story.

the story

‘Sarafira’ is based on the true story of GR Gopinath, who started the first low-cost airline in India. Gopinath from a small village had big dreams. A story of flying high while facing challenges to realize these dreams, in which he turns his pain into passion. In ‘Surfira’, Akshay Kumar plays Veer Mahatre, an ex-army officer who faces constant rejection. Yet he never gives up. Its ambition to provide affordable air travel to millions of Indians is a dream that faces many hurdles in its way. The biggest obstacle is air business tycoon Paresh Goswami, played by Paresh Rawal.

Paresh Goswami ensures that Veer’s every move is immediately met with a major obstacle. Veer is not alone in this fight. He is blessed with the blessings of his courageous wife Rani (Radhika Madan), close friends and his mother who support him in all his endeavours. Apart from this, the villagers also have sympathy. Paresh repeatedly bruises, torments and wounds Veer’s spirit, but each attack strengthens his spirit rather than weakens it. ‘Sarfira’ also shows the discrimination of poverty and wealth and also takes initiatives to end it.

directing

Sudha Kangara’s writing and the staging of her scenes reflect her positive outlook on life. This is the main attraction of the film. From the very first scene of the plane announcing ‘Mayday’ to the depth of Veer’s psyche and his undying passion, Sudha succeeds in telling the story of ambition combined with vision. The film deals with many social issues in depth and speaks to the issue.

With the economic disparity between the rich and the poor, the film presents a new definition of women’s empowerment when men are involved in the decisions. It speaks of a woman who not only walks shoulder to shoulder with a man, but also becomes his shield when trouble befalls him. Sudha Kangra is a woman, perhaps that is why she has been able to portray such a woman perfectly. Overall the direction of the film is balanced, due to which the film keeps you engaged even after the emotional and tear-jerking scenes.

display

The director has not failed to bring back Kongara Kumar. This movie will remind you of Akshay Kumar’s Airlift, Baby and Rustom. People were waiting for the return of Akshay Kumar. The actor has made a strong comeback. He is amazing in emotional scenes, his sadness at many places will make you cry. Akshay has an emotional scene when he cries in front of his mother, brilliantly played by Seema Biswas. The sincerity of both can be seen in this scene.

Despite being a superstar, Akshay looks good as a common man, due to which he managed to convey the right emotions. Radhika Madan’s acting is absolutely amazing which leaves you in awe. This can be called the best role of the actress so far. Akshay and Radhika’s pairing and amazing synergy can be seen throughout the film. Radhika is a crazy person with a crazy personality. Only a Rani can give a madman the strength to become a hero and Radhika conveys the meaning of this line very well. Her juggling with Akshay, romantic timing and cinematic chemistry make for light and beautiful moments or in other words, summer chills.

Paresh Rawal is strong, experienced and experienced as always. This is the reason why he is counted among the metropolises of acting. Anil Charanjith, Krishna Kumar Balasubramaniam and Saurabh Goyal as Akshay’s friends exemplify true friends. All three characters are effective and attractive even in small roles.

Shortcomings of the film

There are several songs in the film which are a bit disturbing. By removing these songs, the screen time of the film could have been reduced to 15 minutes, which would have made the story more crisp. Currently the title track and some songs of the film are also impressive. However, the flaws are few and far between as Akshay Kumar is adept at presenting authentic stories.

What movie should I watch?

Overall, ‘Surfira’ is a watchable film, which succeeds in conveying many messages. The story of the movie gives the spirit of fighting challenges, that’s why we are giving it 4 stars.
