During his appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Friday, July 19, Armie Hammer commented on rumors that Robert Downey Jr. funded his rehab stay.
Hammer clarified that the Iron Man actor has been supportive, but “he didn’t pay for me to go to rehab” for his six-month Florida rehab stint in 2021. At the time, Hammer was dealing with issues related to drugs, alcohol, and sex, as reported Vanity Fair,

When Piers Morgan asked about the rehab funding rumors, Hammer replied, “No, they didn’t. They didn’t give me money to go to rehab.” The over-hour-long interview touched on a variety of allegations against Hammer, including allegations of sexual and physical abuse and even cannibalism.

“I wouldn’t want to put anybody else in my situation. There are a lot of people who have been extremely helpful and I’m very grateful to them,” he said.
“He helped me in the same way that anybody in Hollywood who is suffering from any kind of addiction — whether it’s alcohol or drug addiction — decides to get sober, that person will find you, and help you. It’s amazing.”
Downey reportedly told Hammer, “Sit down, shut up, everything will be fine.”
When Morgan mentioned Leonardo DiCaprio and Julia Roberts, Hammer said he hadn’t spoken to them. “I try not to think about the people who haven’t contacted me. I try to focus on the people who have contacted me, who have shown their support,” he said, adding that Lone Ranger co-star Johnny Depp was among the “few” people who have contacted him.

“He’s supported me vocally, which is something I couldn’t appreciate more,” says director Luca Guadagnino, who worked with Hammer on 2017’s “Call Me By Your Name.”
He concluded, “I understand that my position was provocative, and that anyone who got too close to me could have opened fire.”
