Hyebe’s explosive countersuit against Min Hye Jin: ‘Not forcibly acquired…’

After a long gap, another lawsuit has started between ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin and the popular agency HYBE. Min Hee Jin filed a lawsuit against several HYBE executives as she accused them of ripping off the popular K-pop group, New Jeans, from Source Music. However, the entertainment company denied all the allegations and will file a counter-suit against Min Hee Jin for false accusations.

HYBE files countersuit against Min Hee Jin

Min Hee Jin accused the entertainment company that houses the popular K-pop group, BTS, of defamation in her lawsuit. She also claimed that the company maliciously edited her messages to defame her. To which HYBE filed a counter-suit claiming that all the allegations made by the ADOR CEO against the company were false. HYBE released an official statement alleging that Min Hee Jin did not return any company property, such as a laptop, when she left HYBE, and that she did not comply with audit requests. In contrast, the two deputy CEOs voluntarily returned their property, and HYBE denied forcibly acquiring any property from them, as reported by Soompi.

During previous court proceedings, HYBE clarified that they had not conducted forensic examinations on the laptop previously returned by Min Hye Jin. It was also revealed that Min Hye Jin sent work-related documents, including conversations with a wizard, to external recipients using her HYBE email account, which remained stored on the company’s servers. The emails were sent to a senior official of a partner company, whose name was not disclosed in the HYBE statement.

The entertainment company also revealed that Min Hee Jin had consented to the processing of her personal information when she joined the company. However, even after multiple clarifications from HYBE, Min Hee Jin and others filed suit based on false allegations, forcing the company to take retaliatory legal action against them.

Min Hee Jin’s lawsuit against HYBE executives

Min Hee Jin filed a defamation lawsuit against five HYBE executives, HYBE CEO Park Ji Won, audit committee chairman Lim Soo Hyun, chief legal officer Jung Jin Soo, chief financial officer Lee Kyung Joon, and chief communications officer Park Tae Hee, on July 24, 2024. She accused the entertainment company of repeatedly leaking illegally obtained private conversations and personal information and editing them for its own benefit. She also claimed that the company extracted personal conversations without permission in 2022 and circulated false accusations against her in press releases to influence public opinion against her.
