Anticipated Artists Fantastic Four has officially been assembled, with Pedro Pascal giving fans a behind-the-scenes look on social media. The Last of Us The star, who is set to play Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, shared a photo with his fellow cast members on Instagram, captioning, “Our first mission.”
In the photo, Pascal is joined by Vanessa Kirby, who will play Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch. The film also stars Julia Garner as Silver Surfer, while Paul Walter Hauser appears in an undisclosed role.
Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has revealed that the upcoming superhero film will be a period piece based in an alternate universe set in the 1960s. He revealed that Official Marvel Podcast“It’s a landmark film, and we had released another artwork that had Johnny Storm flying through the air making the 4 symbol. That image had a cityscape… I’d say those are smart observations…”
Excitement for the film grew further when Marvel held a spectacular drone show at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). Speaking at the event, Feige urged the crowd to look up to the skies at 9:45 p.m. As the drones created various images, they eventually revealed the iconic Fantastic Four ‘4’ symbol, which marks the presence of Galactus, a major antagonist in the Marvel universe.
Ralph Ineson is set to play Galactus, a god-like being who consumes planets to maintain his life force. Galactus is a formidable opponent for the Fantastic Four, having appeared previously in the 2007 film Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,
Feige also confirmed that the cast would be in attendance at Comic-Con and that filming would take place. Fantastic Four will begin right after the event. “Our director, Matt Shakman, has already moved to London, and we’ll start filming at the end of July. The funny thing is, we start shooting the Monday after Comic-Con,” Feige said. “I’m extremely excited because those characters are the mainstays, the great pillars of the Marvel Universe.”
