Jennifer Garner’s unexpected appearance in the action-packed Deadpool and Wolverine gave fans a pleasant surprise. However, it was her witty dialogues (or puns for the former) that really grabbed the headlines. Garner, who previously shared the screen with ex-husband Ben Affleck in the superhero film Daredevil, cracked a quick joke about their past relationship. This comes amid rumours of a separation between Affleck and his wife Jennifer Lopez.

Jennifer Garner made a surprise return as Elektra almost two decades after her initial portrayal of the character in the 2003 Marvel film, Daredevil. This marked her return to the superhero genre, where she originally starred alongside her then-husband, Ben Affleck. The co-stars fell in love and later married each other before separating in 2015.

Deadpool’s offhand comment about Daredevil’s death took a shocking turn with Garner’s nonchalant response. There was a scene in which Ryan Reynolds’ character pays tribute to fallen Marvel heroes. When Ben Affleck offers condolences on the lead character’s death, Jennifer Garner’s Elektra nonchalantly replies, “Oh, it’s okay.”
Elektra’s cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine
Deadpool 3 is coming to theaters after its theatrical release in the U.K. on July 25 and in the U.S. on July 26. For her cameo role, Elektra arrives to save Deadpool, Wolverine, Gambit, X-23 and others from the clutches of villain Cassandra Nova. She then reveals a horrifying reality: several heroes, including her former lover Daredevil, have already fallen victim to Nova’s deadly rampage.
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s relationship
Garner and Affleck, who fell in love on set during their early years, got married in 2009. After welcoming three children, Violet (18), Seraphina (15), and Samuel (12), the couple announced their separation in 2015, and their divorce was finalized in 2017. Affleck is currently married to his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez, whom he dated before Garner; they had previously broken off their engagement but reunited two decades later. Despite all this, there is no bad blood between the former spouses, who co-parent their children together. In fact, Garner and the kids also love Lopez and share a beautiful relationship with her.
In 2020, The Accountant 2 star called his divorce from Garner the biggest ‘regret’ of his life and blamed his addiction for it. “I drank relatively normally for a long time,” Affleck said in an interview with The New York Times. “What happened was that when my marriage was falling apart, I started drinking more. This was in 2015, 2016. Of course, my drinking habit exacerbated the marital problems,” he added.
