Ten short films focusing on urban issues in Indian cities will be screened on Monday as part of a special package titled ‘Nagri: A Bioscope for the City’ on the fourth day of the 16th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK). These films have been selected from the Nagari Short Film Competition, an annual event that also provides guidance to participants to help them realise their filmmaking dream.
The 10 films included in the package, spanning the four years of the competition, depict different aspects of the urban landscape, replete with narratives relating to housing, slums, water supply, waste management, amenities in public spaces and inequalities in access.
Movies showing at the Neela Theatre at 3pm include: a city within a city By Prachi Bajania and Narendra Mangwani; beyond the four walls By Ritika Banerjee; Flying BanarasBy Apurva Jaiswal and Manas Krishna; Rhythm Betal By Sanchay Bose, Pramathyu Shukla, Shubham Sengupta and Rudraksh Pathak; Darudi By Aatish Indrekar and Ruchika Chhara; all day and all night By Priya Naresh, Palak Patel and Aniket Kolarkar; Maya By Suraj Katra, Jai Mati, Prachi Adesara and Sitaram Shelar; Hasraten Basrat by Pinnacle Pal; work in progress By Oishi Johri and Nipun Prabhakar; and Junk-E By Ayush Ray and Ritam Sarkar. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on the films.
