Universal has acquired the rights to the Grammy winner’s autobiography, which has sold more than 2.5 million copies in the U.S. since its release in October. Spears details her journey to pop success in the book, from her “Mickey Mouse Club” days to her highly-publicized and scrutinized conservatorship case.
The book details her interactions with her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake and his family, as well as profiles of people who tried to dominate her life.
Spears expressed her joy and gratitude at the time, saying, “I’ve poured my heart and soul into my memoir, and I’m so grateful to my fans and readers around the world for their unwavering support.”
Meanwhile, the first chapter of Chu and Pratt’s adaptation of the classic Broadway musical “Wicked,” starring Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo and Grammy winner Ariana Grande, will open in theaters on November 22. “Wicked Part Two” is set for November 26, 2025.
Spears has remained somewhat out of the spotlight since being released from conservatorship in November 2021. Aside from frequently uploading videos of herself dancing on Instagram, she announced earlier this year that she would “never” return to the music industry and is instead producing songs for other singers.
She recently came into the spotlight when Halsey released her new track ‘Lucky’, which was accompanied by a music video last week. Prior to the song’s release, Halsey said Spears had given her permission to use her 2000 single of the same name in the song.
But following the video’s release, Spears posted and then quickly deleted a message on X claiming she felt “harassed, disrespected and intimidated” by being portrayed as a “superficial pop star.”
Shortly after, she claimed the post was “fake news” and said she loved Halsey, who tweeted quoting the message and expressing her admiration for the singer.
Halsey wrote, “I love Britney!!!!” “I always have and always will…(heart emoji) You were the first person who made me realize what it means to feel inspired. And you continue to inspire me every day,” Variety reported.
