Sunidhi Chauhan is undoubtedly one of the finest playback singers in Bollywood. But did you know that she has not been paid for most of her songs in several films? 40-year-old Sunidhi revealed this at an event. Raj Shamani‘podcast. When asked if producers don’t pay singers, Sunidhi replied, “It is not like everyone gives. Now when we become of our stature then we have to give because then you can say that I will sing only when I get money. But when you yourself feel that I just want to sing, the money is fine right now. This is a choice that you make. So, you cannot blame yourself for not getting money. [It is not like everyone does not pay. When you reach that stature, they have to because then you can say, ‘I will sing only when I get paid.’ But when you feel that you just want to sing, the money is secondary. It is a choice that you make. So, you cannot blame anyone for not getting paid.],
When the interviewer asked if any “false promises” were made regarding payments, Sunidhi Chauhan said, “That also happens, but I won’t be able to speak about it there because I have never seen anything like that. [That also happens, but I can’t speak about it because I have not experienced it.],
Revealing about not getting paid for several projects, the singer said, “I have not been paid for many films. Even today, when I don’t get paid, it doesn’t mean they don’t give me money. They ask for it and I don’t take it. Because I feel like I don’t feel like taking money for a song. [Because I think that for one song, I don’t feel like taking money.],
Sunidhi Chauhan also revealed that sometimes she adopts some “strategies” to avoid payment. She said, “And somewhere I think I just want to help without making them feel that I am helping. Because I don’t like to show off, so I tell my price, sing and then say I don’t want to take it. Because you don’t want to hurt anyone’s ego because not everyone thinks like you. And they may not even understand how you feel. You still want to put your point across. So you do all this pantry use. [And sometimes, where I feel I just want to help without making them realize that help is being given. Because I don’t like to show off, I might state my price, sing the song, and then say I don’t want to take it.
