Los Angeles is usually home to the homes of Hollywood’s top stars, due to the place’s pop-culture atmosphere and central place in the country’s film and TV industry. However, this sprawling Southern California city has become a victim of home invasions, with Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson’s home bearing the brunt.
The news comes shortly after Modern Family star Sarah Hyland’s Los Angeles property was burglarized. The case is somewhat similar to the burglary at Hyland’s home, as thieves reportedly struck Hanks’ property while the actor couple was out of town.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson’s Los Angeles home burglarized
TMZ first reported the news. Law enforcement officials said that the incident happened a few weeks ago when house thieves tried to break into the Forrest Gump actor’s guest house. The thieves broke the glass to get in, that too in broad daylight. Eventually, the security system raised an alarm after the glass was broken. However, this did not stop the thieves from entering the property.
Sources claim that the thieves didn’t actually make it to the main house. Authorities also said that Hanks and Wilson aren’t necessarily the targets in this case. It appears to be another in a string of home break-ins in the area.

It is still unclear what has been stolen. The actor couple will have to count their belongings to find out the value of any items that are missing. No arrests have been announced yet in the active investigation.
TMZ further reported that criminals involved in robberies in the area have even resorted to extreme measures in some cases, including tying up victims inside their homes.
Luckily, Tom and Rita were not there on the day of the accident, saving them from the unthinkable.
Of the couple’s many luxurious properties, their most famous mansion is their $26 million Pacific Palisades residence in Los Angeles. According to Architectural Digest, their three-story opulent estate has four bedrooms and five bathrooms. Perched atop a cliff, it overlooks the ocean and was originally built in 1996. Following its significant remodeling update in 2006, it now includes features such as a cliffside swimming pool and deck area, a wine cellar, and a motor court surrounded by trees. Designed by Gwathmey Siegel, Hanks took possession of the residence in 2010, the same year he reprised his iconic Pixar character, Woody, in Toy Story 3.
