Taylor Swift’s London tour will not be affected by events in Vienna, UK police say.

LONDON — British police said there was no indication that a planned attack on Taylor Swift’s concert in Vienna would have any impact on her final five shows in Europe, scheduled at London’s Wembley Stadium next week.

Swift’s three concerts in Vienna this week, expected to draw 195,000 people, were cancelled after police said they had foiled an attack by a 19-year-old Austrian man who wanted to attack fans with a bomb or knife.

Her record-breaking Eras tour came to the UK in June, with shows in Edinburgh, Liverpool and Cardiff, followed by a three-night appearance in London attended by current Prime Minister Keir Starmer and members of the Royal Family.

According to reports, she will return to Wembley on August 15 for five nights, after which she will head back to North America for her final shows of Eras, which has become the highest-grossing concert tour of all time.

A spokesman for London’s Metropolitan Police said: “There is no indication that the matters being investigated by the Austrian authorities will have any impact on upcoming events in London.”

Austrian police on Wednesday detained two people suspected of plotting a concert attack. They said the 19-year-old suspect had his eyes set on a Swift concert in Vienna.

London’s Met Police said millions of visitors each year have a safe and enjoyable experience at high-profile events in London, including when Bruce Springsteen performed at Wembley in July.

“The Met works closely with venue security teams and other partners to ensure appropriate security and policing plans are in place,” the spokesperson said.

“As always, we will continue to carefully review any new information.”

Disappointment of fans

The singer’s fans took to social media to express their disappointment at the cancellation of the show in Vienna, and fear the London concert may also be cancelled, and demanded tickets.

“If anyone is selling 2 tickets for Taylor Swift for any night at London Wembley please message me xx from a very desperate and desperate girl from Vienna,” a user called Haze said on X.

Tickets to see Swift in the UK sold out quickly as fans clamoured to see the most high-profile tour in years. A general admission ticket to Wembley cost £110.40.

On Thursday, the same tickets were available for more than £1,200 on resale websites such as Viagogo and StubHub.

Police in Britain are already on high alert following racist riots targeting immigrants and Muslim communities after the killing of three girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport, northwest England, on July 29.

“These were young kids in dance class,” Swift said the day after the attack.

Police presence across Britain has been stepped up since the violence broke out, and mass anti-racism protests on Wednesday managed to avert further violence.
