‘The Lord of the Rings’ is considered one of the most successful film series. However, according to Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett, this does not mean that the actors in Peter Jackson’s film trilogy were paid well for their roles. Diversity.

During ‘Watch What Happens Live,’ host Andy Cohen asked Blanchett which movie she’s paid the most for. “I think it’s probably ‘Lord of the Rings,'” Cohen guessed.

“Are you kidding?” Blanchett replied, “No, nobody got paid anything to do that movie.” When Cohen asked her if she “got a backend part,” Blanchett replied, “No! That was long before all of this. No, nothing.” “I wanted to work with the guy who made ‘Braindead,'” she said, referring to Jackson and his 1992 zombie comedy film, which was released in North America as ‘Dead and Alive.’

Blanchett played Galadriel, a royal elf of Middle-earth with extraordinary magical skills, in Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. The Oscar-winning performer reprised her role in the director’s “Hobbit” film trilogy, which serves as a prequel to “Lord of the Rings.”

Blanchett is not the first ‘Lord of the Rings’ cast member to complain about her low remuneration for the fantasy epic. Last year, Orlando Bloom, who played Legolas, said on The Howard Stern Show that he was only paid $175,000 for all three films.

“I basically got free sandwiches, and I got to keep my elf ears,” Blanchett said, adding, “Women don’t get paid as much as you think.” Blanchett appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” with Gina Gershon to promote the sci-fi film “Borderlands,” in theaters Friday.
