Los Angeles, Sep 19 (IANS) British star Kit Harington, who played fan favourite character Jon Snow in the HBO series, says mistakes were made during the final season of “Game of Thrones”.
During a profile interview with GQ Magazine, Harington agreed with fans that the eighth and final season of the smash hit show, which premiered in May 2019 to negative reviews, was “rushed.”
“I think there were some mistakes made in the ending to the story. I think there were some interesting choices that didn’t work,” Harington said.
He said, “I think if there was a mistake in the ending of ‘Thrones’ it was that we were all so tired, we couldn’t see it any further. So I understand some people felt it was rushed and I can agree with them. But I’m not sure there was any choice.”
The final season of “Game of Thrones,” which aired in 2019, faced widespread criticism from fans and critics for a variety of reasons, with the most common complaint being that the show, which had spent years building complex storylines and character arcs, crammed important events into just six episodes.

He said, “I look at pictures of myself from that final season and I look tired. I look exhausted. I didn’t have another season in me.”

The actor also talked about a spin-off series based on Jon Snow, which is no longer in development.
He said, “I don’t really want to say anything. Because that starts a whole thing.”

“And then I thought there might be an interesting and important story about the soldier after the war. I thought there might be something left to say and a story left to tell in a limited way.
“We spent a couple of years developing it. And it just didn’t happen… nothing excited us that much. In the end, I stepped back and said, ‘I think if we push this any further and continue to develop it we might end up with something that’s not going to be good. And that’s the last thing any of us want’,” Harington said.
