Mumbai: Who said Raksha Bandhan is only about brothers protecting their sisters? Over the years, the meaning of this festival has changed and people celebrate it in their own ways.
Actress Bhumi Pednekar and her sister Samiksha celebrated Raksha Bandhan by tying Rakhi on each other’s wrists.
As it’s Raksha Bandhan today, Bhumi wrote a short but beautiful note for her sister on Instagram. “Love you @samikshapednekar (red heart emoji). We are always there for each other (infinity emoji) #HappyRakshaBandhan,” he wrote in the caption along with the post.
Bhumi has also shared some pictures with Sameeksha. In the first picture, Sameeksha is seen tying a Rakhi on Bhumi’s wrist. In the second picture, Bhumi is holding baby Sameeksha in her lap.
In a previous interview with ANI, the ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ star had revealed how she celebrates the festival every year with her younger sister Samiksha.
She said, “Raksha Bandhan means protecting your loved ones. I don’t believe in the concept that only siblings can celebrate the festival. I don’t believe in it at all. I tie a rakhi on my sister and mother’s wrist and then they tie a rakhi on me. We celebrate the festival with great fervour at home. Raksha Bandhan is all about appreciating the people you love.”
Sameeksha is quite famous for her beauty on social media. She is often mistaken for Bhumi’s twin sister. Meanwhile, talking about work, Bhumi will soon be seen in the series ‘Daldal’. In this project, she will be seen playing the role of a police officer.
Talking about what viewers can expect from the series, Bhumi said, “Daldal is a project that encapsulates all the qualities of being a woman. Rita is a super achiever, a glass-ceiling breaker, rewriting the rules in a man’s world. She is ambitious, passionate about her work and leads from the front. These are women I look up to and I am thrilled to headline such a series on a global streaming platform that will help me show the world the strength and resilience of Indian women.”
She said, “Daldal is one of my most special projects for many reasons. I have started shooting for the project and I can already tell you that it will be one of my most challenging roles till date.” Amrit Raj Gupta is the director of this series. He also has ‘The Royals’.
