Despite hopes, Taylor Swift will not be making an appearance at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) this week, Deadline reports.

“Everyone loves Taylor, but her being here will overshadow everything,” one DNC insider told the outlet. deadline“Think about it, no one will remember anything the vice president said in his acceptance speech. All the headlines will be about Swift.”

Harris, who is now leading the Democratic bid for the White House following Biden’s decision to step down, is scheduled to deliver her acceptance speech on August 22. Biden is expected to speak tonight following the DNC tribute, which will include remarks from First Lady Dr. Jill Biden.

Beyoncé’s ‘Freedom’ boosts Kamala Harris’s campaign, but where is Taylor Swift?

While Beyoncé has given Harris permission to use her 2016 hit ‘Freedom’ as campaign theme music, Taylor Swift is seen as a cultural force that could potentially sway the election in Harris’s favor. Given Swift’s wide appeal in both Democratic and Republican states, rumors had circulated that she might visit Chicago to support the vice president. However, Swift has yet to endorse any candidate in this election cycle.

Swift is currently on the European leg of her Eras Tour, performing at London’s Wembley Arena. With only one more show scheduled in Europe before a break until October, her relatively open schedule fueled speculation about a possible DNC appearance.

Furthering the Swiftie speculation, Trump recently tried to stir up controversy by falsely claiming on social media that Swift had endorsed him. Although the claim is unfounded, a Trump campaign spokesperson said, “Swifties for Trump is a huge movement that grows bigger every day.”

With over 60,000 members, the Swifties for Kamala group has made significant progress and is planning a fundraising event for the vice president on August 27. However, Swifties for Kamala co-founder Irene Kim told Wired magazine, “We don’t represent every Swiftie, but I think there’s a reason we don’t need AI to show our support for Kamala.”
