Mumbai: Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh’s journey from his illustrious career to his off-field battles will be shown in a biopic.
Bhushan Kumar and producer Ravi Bhagchandka are collaborating to bring the life of Yuvraj Singh to the big screen. The film will showcase the life and career of cricket sensation Yuvraj Singh.
The legendary former cricketer said that this biopic can be an inspiration for many. According to information provided by the project’s team, Yuvraj said, “I am very honoured that my story will be told by Bhushan ji and Ravi to millions of my fans across the world. Cricket has been my greatest love and a source of strength through all the ups and downs. I hope this film will inspire others to overcome their challenges and pursue their dreams with unwavering passion.”
Kumar, best known for ‘Animal’, ‘Srikant’, ‘Drishyam 2’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ and many more, spoke about the film that will showcase the legendary cricketer’s remarkable achievements. From his unforgettable six sixes in the 2007 T20 World Cup to his daring off-field battles, the film will showcase everything.
Bhushan Kumar said, “Yuvraj Singh’s life is a compelling tale of perseverance, triumph and passion. His journey from being a promising cricketer to a cricketing hero and then a real-life hero is truly inspiring. I am thrilled to bring a story that needs to be told and heard on the big screen and celebrate his extraordinary achievements.”
The film is co-produced by Ravi Bhagchandka, best known for ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ and ‘Sitare Zameen Par’. Speaking about his association with Yuvraj, Ravi said, “Yuvraj has been a dear friend of mine for many years. I am proud that he trusted us to transform his incredible cricketing journey into a cinematic experience. Yuvi is not just a world champion but a true legend in every sense of the word.”
Talking about Yuvraj’s remarkable career, he made his debut in the Punjab Under-16 cricket team at the age of 13. Yuvraj represented India in 402 international games from 2000-2017, scoring 11,178 runs at an average of 35.05, including 17 centuries and 71 half-centuries. He was part of the Indian team that won the ICC Champions Trophy 2002 (joint winner with Sri Lanka), ICC T20 World Cup 2007 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
He was also the first Indian player to hit six sixes in an over in international cricket, doing so against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup. The highest performance of his career was the ‘Player of the Tournament’ performance during the 2011 World Cup, in which he scored 362 runs with a century and four half-centuries in nine matches and took 15 wickets. In 2011, he was diagnosed with cancer. This film is like a tribute to his unmatched journey as a cricketer.
