George Clooney has dismissed a report that claimed he and Brad Pitt received more than $35 million for Wolves.
George Clooney has denied a report that claimed he and Brad Pitt were paid $35 million for their roles in Wolves. The 63-year-old actor made the comments during a press conference for Jon Watts’ latest film at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday. This comes after The New York Times last week cited sources as saying the two actors were “paid more than $35 million.”

The Ticket to Paradise star said ahead of the thriller’s premiere:[It was] An interesting article and whatever the source is for our salaries, it’s millions and millions of dollars less than what’s reported. And I’m only saying that because I think it’s bad for our industry if people consider that the standard for salaries.” “I think it’s terrible, it’s going to make movies impossible,” he added.

Clooney further added that he and the Fight Club star returned part of their salaries after a theatrical deal for the film fell through. This means that Wolves will get a limited release. “We’ve had some obstacles in our way, it happens. When I did ‘The Boys in the Boat,’ we did it for MGM, and then it ended up for Amazon, and we didn’t get an overseas release at all, which was a surprise. There are some elements of it that we’re figuring out,” he explained, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Ocean’s Eleven actor also spoke about how difficult it is to release a film in today’s world. “You guys are all in it as well. We’re all in this industry, and we’re trying to find our way after COVID and everything else, and so there are some hindrances along the way. It’s definitely a setback, but on the other hand, a lot of people are going to see the film, and we’re getting a release in a few hundred theaters, so we’re getting a release. But yeah, it would have been nice if we could have released a film in the same theaters.” [were] “It should have a wide release,” Clooney said.
