Adrien Brody gets emotional as The Brutalist receives 12-minute standing ovation at Venice Film Festival

Adrien Brody plays a Hungarian Holocaust survivor who hopes to revive his career as an architect in The Brutalist. The film received rave reviews in Venice.

Adrien Brody’s new film The Brutalist premiered at the Venice Film Festival to a great response. According to a report DiversityThe Brady Corbet-directed historical drama film received a record 12-minute standing ovation following its world premiere in the festival’s main competition section. The actor, who was present along with the rest of the cast, was seen wiping away tears seeing the audience’s enthusiasm. The Brutalist Shocks Venice

The report states that Adrien Brody was ‘overwhelmed with emotion’ as the applause continued after the film’s premiere. It adds that “the actor wiped away tears and held his head in his hands, repeatedly trying to deflect the applause to his director and co-stars, but the spotlight kept falling back on him.”

The Brutalist also stars Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Raffey Cassidy, Stacy Martin, Emma Laird, Isaach de Bankole and Alessandro Nivola. It has a runtime of 215 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission at the festival.

Initial reviews following the world premiere were universally rave, with critics praising the film’s scope and ambition and calling it one of the best films of the year. Many users on social media also pointed out that Adrien Brody has given the best performance of his career, and should be considered for the Best Actor Oscar next year. The actor has already won an Oscar in the same category for his performance in The Pianist.

As per the official synopsis Festival venueThe Brutalist ‘chronicles the journey of Hungarian-born Jewish architect Laszlo Toth, who emigrates to the United States in 1947. Initially forced to work in poverty, he soon wins a contract that will change the direction of the next 30 years of his life.’

The Venice Film Festival began on August 28 and will end on September 7.
