Singer Britney Spears has questioned Sabrina Carpenter’s kiss with the ‘alien’ on the stage of the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). On Wednesday, Britney Spears posted a video on Instagram in which she talked in detail about a part of Sabrina’s performance and called it ‘weird’. Britney talks about kissing Sabrina
In the video, Britney said, “Did you guys watch the VMAs? I didn’t watch the VMAs, but I watched Sabrina Carpenter’s stuff on YouTube on my phone. Why is she kissing an alien on stage? I like her so much. I love her so much. I didn’t get that part. Why didn’t she kiss a girl? That was weird. But I also thought the whole thing was weird.”
Britney praises Sabrina
“But then, I took a really long shower after I saw that…this Sabrina girl said my name on the red carpet and I thought that was really cool. Because I sometimes forget that I’m famous. Because I’m a mom, I’m a little old, blah-blah-blah, but it was really cool. The Sabrina girl Carpenter said something about my music. That’s cool. That made me cool. Okay, maybe not,” she said as the video ended.
The Kiss of the VMAs
Sabrina, during her space-themed performance, was seen kissing a man disguised as an alien. At the 2003 VMAs, Britney shared a kiss with Madonna when she and Christina Aguilera were performing together. Sabrina and Jenna Ortega also kissed in the music video for Taste.
Britney agrees to attend 2024 VMAs
At the 2024 VMAs, MTV featured a 40-year history of the VMAs, including Britney’s albino python and Madonna’s performance of Like a Virgin. Megan Thee Stallion wore an outfit that resembled Britney’s look from her I’m a Slave 4 U 2001 VMA performance, which also featured a live albino Burmese python. Tate McRae also appeared to recreate Britney’s lacy look from a previous VMA.
