Exclusive | Rahul Vaidya and Disha Parmar on dengue diagnosis: Worst day of our lives, we are still recovering

Singer Rahul Vaidya is suffering from dengue along with his wife and actress Disha Parmar. He said, “I went to Pune on September 1, I am sure I got bitten by a mosquito then. By the time I got infected and started showing symptoms, it was already 5th night.”

The 36-year-old further explained the symptoms of his illness and said, “I had a very high fever, chills and I was shivering badly. And after that, those five days were the worst days of my life. May God ensure that no one gets this disease, not even the enemy. I was so weak that I couldn’t even get up from bed for four days.”

The singer revealed that his wife Disha was travelling with him to Pune and hence, she also got infected there. He added, “Both of us are on the road to recovery now but it will still take some time, there is a lot of weakness. We are on medication, we are eating light food and not doing any exercise. It was an event commitment due to which I had to travel for a day in between, otherwise we were not in a position to do so. Platelets are a little low, we are doing regular blood tests and taking measures to improve them.”

Their daughter Navya is unhurt and is being taken care of by her parents. “Navya is absolutely fine, luckily she didn’t come to Pune. Earlier she was supposed to come too, but coincidentally we changed our plans,” says Vaidya, adding, “Her grandmother is taking care of her, there are helpers, everyone is looking after her. And, she is a very calm, independent and quiet girl, she doesn’t need us all the time. Khelti rahte hai badhiya apni mai woh.”

For Vaidya, missing his favourite festival Ganesh Chaturthi was a sad moment. “We lay in bed the whole time. The prasad, the hospitality to the guests and everything was done by my mother. Actually, my friends came and did the visarjan, we did nothing. I felt very bad. I love this festival and I had to miss it like this,” he said.
