Janet Jackson is opening up about the wonders of motherhood and the “beautiful effect” it has had on her. In an interview with The Guardian on Saturday, the 58-year-old revealed she wanted three children but held off on doing so after having her son, Eisa Al Mana, who is now 7 years old.

The All For You singer told the outlet, “The most important thing I’ve done, the greatest thing I’ve ever done, is becoming a mother, and it has had a beautiful impact on my life.” Jackson welcomed Eissa with her then-husband Wissam Al Mana in 2017. However, the couple ended their five-year marriage just three months after their son was born.

The Miss You So Much singer added, “I wanted three kids, but thought, ‘I should stop here, maybe that’s all I can handle.’ Because you have to give it your all.” “Of course, you have to work, but you don’t come first anymore. Your life changes completely. And I wouldn’t change it for anything,” she added.
In 2019, Jackson opened up about raising her son without the help of a nanny. “It’s hard being a working mum. I don’t have a nanny, I do it all myself. Of course, someone watches him when I’m working, but it’s my baby and me,” she told The Daily Telegraph’s Stellar magazine at the time. She now co-parents Eissa, who lives in London with her ex-husband.

When asked by the Guardian about the differences between her and Eissa’s childhoods, Jackson said they were “totally different, because I worked and he didn’t. And that’s it.” “I want her to experience being a kid, because you don’t have to go through that again. You’re an adult for the rest of your life, so I want her to enjoy every moment of being a kid,” she explained.
