Verrieri revealed that The Princess Diaries 3 is being produced by Debra Martin Chase, who originated the film franchise. Anne Hathaway will also produce under her Somewhere Pictures banner. Late Friday night, Anne Hathaway shared news of the announcement on her Instagram with a selfie video that included clips from Parts 1 and 2 and she uttered the iconic “Shut up!” Line from the movies. The film has been in development for two years. Last year, Anne shared an update in an interview with V Magazine. “We are in a good place. Nothing to announce right now. But we’re in a good place,” she said. Well, finally, it looks like production has moved to an even better place.

The Princess Diaries follows teenager Mia Thermopolis who discovers that her estranged father was the king of a fictional kingdom called Genovia. Following the advances of her grandmother (played by Julie Andrews), Mia must give up her city life to become a princess.

The Princess Diaries 3 director

A new director is set to direct the third part. Adele Lim, best known for directing Crazy Rich Asians, has joined as director for The Princess Diaries 3. “As a die-hard fan of the original Princess Diaries, I am extremely excited to be a part of bringing its third iteration. This favorite franchise of life. We look forward to celebrating our core tenants of female strength, joy and guidance with audiences around the world,” Adele said in a statement shared by Variety.

The film will go on floors this year but the release date has not been received yet.
