A few minutes in Upendra’s much awaited ui,The screen went blank, leading to whispers in the audience that it was a ploy by the actor-filmmaker to confuse them. Upendra’s previous direction, Uppi 2, People were surprised by the scene where the screen goes blank. At the time, it was intentional, but in my screening ui, It was just a case of a launch glitch. Having served a generation with his unique ideas on the big screen, Upendra’s reputation as an unpredictable filmmaker makes people expect the unexpected.
After a gap of nine years, Upendra returns as a director and delivers a film that can boast of not having almost a single predictable scene. He breaks and creates the grammar of filmmaking in his trademark way ui Worthwhile despite its shortcomings.
The film is another take on Upendra’s favorite theme of questioning the system and reiterating the importance of focusing on truth. ui Enjoyably gives a psychological twist to the legend of Kalki. Nature, Adam and Eve and even Buddha are at the center of the plot ui Many films within one film.
UI (Kannada)
Director: Upendra
Mould: Upendra, Guruprasad, Reshma Nanaiya, Achyut Kumar, Sadhu Kokila, Medini Kelmane
Runtime: 132 minutes
Story: In a fantasy world, all types of people live in peace until an authoritarian leader decides to divide them on the basis of caste, class and religion.
Set in a fantasy world where people from all countries live together, Upendra aims to do something impossible with the broken-hearted style of filmmaking. His entrepreneurial mind is helped by a solid VFX team, huge efforts from art director J Shivakumar and Ajaneesh Loknath’s unique score.
Playing the protagonist, Upendra writes a character for himself who provides the shock therapy he is known for. The film is full of metaphors, many of them relevant in today’s context. Be it mob mentality, caste discrimination, religious violence, Instagram addiction, blind faith, corrupt politicians, and being a joker who sits on the fence without taking sides, Upendra takes a dig at everything. What they feel is hatred towards mankind.

Despite his inventive ideas, ui Suffers from generic parts that affect the overall quality of the film. Upendra tries to give a larger than life, ‘mass’ touch to the hero and fails in the process. Some of the night effect action sequences are extremely jarring, disrupting the flow of the film. The heroine’s (Reshma Nanaiah) track gets a formulaic treatment and a dull conclusion.
Upendra is blunt in his thoughts and metaphors UI. The sharp satire of his previous films is missing in this film. For example, in his political drama Very good (2010), He makes fun of people’s hypocritical thinking with a long monologue that hits you with its remarkable irony. This is the type of effect ui fails to deliver despite its audacious premise.

ui This is Upendra’s most political film till date, but the film is quite weak in terms of entertainment. We remember those peppy songs that matched Upendra’s quirky ideas. set pieces inside ui to pass Don’t give a serious tone and adrenaline rush that we experienced in their old hits A (1998)And Upendra (1999), Perhaps the filmmaker now prefers a serious commentary rather than a message full of cinematic excitement.
first and last 15 minutes of ui 2024 has the most incredible parts of Kannada cinema. Apart from the twisty climax, the film is quite easy to understand, which refutes the ongoing discussions about the film being a mind-bending drama. Despite being heavily involved in his favorite subject, Upendra offers a unique experience ui, Which makes him one of the most original filmmakers of Kannada cinema.
The UI is currently playing in theatres.
