Rakesh Roshan’s 1995 blockbuster Karan ArjunStarring Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan, remains one of the most iconic Bollywood films. However, the director recently opened up about the challenges he faced while working with the two megastars in the film. Shahrukh Khan himself admitted that he and Salman often created trouble for Rakesh during the shooting.

Rakesh shared, “He started losing interest in the film. When a shot is ready, even if the sun is setting, they don’t come when we call them. They came at the last moment and we had to hurry.” Actor Shatrughan Sinha also said, “They (Shah Rukh and Salman) harassed him (Rakesh). They made fun of him or did not cooperate with him.”
Reflecting on the shoot, Shah Rukh acknowledged their behaviour, saying, “Yes, we (Shah Rukh and Salman) troubled him a lot; Because both of us were very mischievous and rowdy.”
He humorously recalled being scolded by Rakesh Roshan’s wife Pinky Roshan and said, “Pinky ji scolded me a lot. ‘You are troubling Guddu (Rakesh) a lot. I didn’t expect this from you. Because, the behavior between Salman and me was a little better; At least apparently. I was like, ‘I didn’t do anything. All this is his (Salman) doing. “We were like two little kids, to be honest, harassing a father figure.”
Rakesh also revealed how both the actors used to challenge his decisions, saying, “Whenever I proposed something, Shahrukh and Salman used to suggest other ideas. And I would tell them, ‘No, this is what I want.’ And they will get angry.”
Adding to the anecdotes, Shahrukh shared a particular incident where Rakesh asked him to shout at him for using abusive language for a scene. “Once he told me, ‘Speak in anger’. I have never spoken like this in a film till date. I said, ‘Rakesh ji I am not being talked to. ‘Main chillata hoon’ (Once, he asked me to shout while abusing onscreen. I told him I wouldn’t be able to abuse as I have never done that on camera. So, I shouted).”
