The film’s veteran Rekha, who was one of the most paid actresses during her time, was once hired by actor Ranjit to act in his film. But things did not happen in the way the actor wanted.
A time came when Ranjit asked Rekha to sign because he could not tolerate it to “tantrums”.
Ranjit remembered the anecdotes and shared his changing equation with Rekha in an interview Vicky Lalwani. When Ranjit was not happy with the proposals that he was getting, he wanted to make his films.
Ranjit said, “I did not signed films for almost a decade. I used to be disappointed. Even though I started making films, even though I shared with the actors, I will pay him for his work. Although he used to hesitate to take money from me, I used to say,” Ranjit said.
“Similarly, I also told Rekha that you are my friend and everything, but if I am signing you for a film, I want you to quote me a zodiac and I will pay you and he did it.
Ranjit also revealed that Rekha waited for the producers outside her house for hours and she would not meet them even after that.
“I knew that the manufacturers would be in line outside their house and would not get to them. When I was telling her the story, I had my whole team, he did not let them go inside. I talked to him. Ranjit wanted to shoot her film songs in the evening, while Rekha was reluctant as she wanted to be free in the evening. This was another point of controversy that put a shadow of uncertainty on his film.
“She was doing a film at the moment, so she told me that we would do the day to shoot the night. I told her brutally, I am not making this film for me and not you. I realized that she will soon behave with me like other producers. So, before she could reach that point, I asked her to return her signature amount. All this happened on a friendly note, “reminded the actor.
Ranjit did not keep himself back from expressing his dissatisfaction with him to work with him.
