French star Gerrard Depardieu prosecution of sexual harassment allegations

New Delhi:

French actor Gerrard Depardyu on Monday faced a test on alleged sexual attacks of two women on a film set, a case that is one of the world’s most famous film stars, which is widely on France’s sexual violence.

A huge figure of French cinema, Depardieu has faced an increasing number of sexual assault allegations in recent years. 76 -year -old Depardieu has denied any wrongdoing, and this will be the first case for which he will stand.

Depardieu’s lawyer, Jeremy Asas, said the case was based on “false allegations” against his customer, saying that the film star was expected to participate in a two -day test after his initial hearing due to his sick health.

Prosecutors say attacks during filming in 2021 Less weight weight (Green shutter).

They accuse Depardiu of catching one of the women on the film set, drawing her towards her and saying porn words, and implicating her with her feet before touching her waist, hips and breasts. Prosecutors say three people saw the scene.

They say that the second woman was set by the set and departed in the street.

The identity of women has not been revealed.

The alleged attacks occurred, while in 2018, the depaddiu was under a formal investigation on allegations of raping a young actress. A test is requested by the prosecutors in the case.

A lawyer of one of the women told Reuters that his client was scared of coming forward against Depardyu.

“There is a fear, because he is a cinema giant,” said Carine Dureu-Dybolt. “This is a conflict between David and Goliath and they are afraid of vengeance because they all work in cinema but are at a much lower level than departedu.”

The second plaintiff lawyer did not respond to Reuters’ requests for remarks.

In France, the test of the departed to the courts may be the most profile #MeToo case, a country where the protest movement on sexual violence has fought to achieve the same traction in the United States.

Recently, however, there have been indications that it may change.

Giselle Pelicot became a global feminist icon last year, when she waived her rights of oblivion during her ex -husband’s testing, which was convicted of drugs and inviting dozens of men to her home to sexually abuse her.

Then, last month, a French court found film director Christofy Ragia guilty for sexual abuse actress Edel Hanel when she was weak.

French director and actress Judith Godreche, like Henl, has become a major voice in the #MeToo movement of France, stating that these tests showed some progress.

“One of the great things that is happening is that women who are talking against very powerful men are mostly not considered crazy,” she told the Reuters on the phone.

However, Godrech stated that speaking in the French cinema industry for men is still uncommon.

Last week, a parliamentary inquiry Commission questioned several prominent actors, directors and producers on the subject of sexual violence in cinema. Most of the men, including the famous actor Jean Dujardin, requested a hearing that they should be conducted anonymously.
