Sunny Deol’s much awaited action drama ‘Jait’ has failed to live up to expectations at the box office despite a large -scale promotional strategy and considerable expectation. After the blockbuster success of ‘Ghadar 2’, there was high hope for Jats, but it has struggled to achieve concrete traction. After several days, the film finally crossed the 50 million mark, but it still decreased by Deol’s performance in the previous release.
In a recent turn of events, JAT producers have already greenlighted a sequel to recover their investment. Sunny Deol resorted to social media to share news on social media on Thursday morning, announced ‘Jat 2’ with a poster. In his post, he wrote:
“#Jaat on a new mission! #Jaat2”
The poster also confirms that Gopichand will direct the Malinni sequel, the same production team – Navven Yarneni, Ravi Shankar Y, and TG Vishwa Prasad – are returning to produce from mathry filmmakers. While Sunny Deol will again tell her role, other cast details have not yet appeared.

Jat box office performance
Despite the inauguration of ₹ 9.62 crore-it was built as the fourth largest Bollywood opening of the year-Jaat struggled to maintain momentum at the box office. In its early weekends, the film domesticly grossed 32.2 crores. By the end of its first week, its total collection reached 57.31 crores, crossing the life of Deol’s 2011 film ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’. However, it is still far behind the huge success of its previous blockbuster, ‘Gadar 2’.
Ready to compete with ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ and other upcoming films, JAT will now face strict competition at the box office. It remains to be seen how the film will perform in the coming weeks.
