See the first Indian store of BACCARAT in Delhi

In Chankya, an Upskale shopping mall in Chanakyapuri, Delhi, is associated with a vibrant red storefront-260-year-old French luxury crystal brand Baikarrat-even attracts your attention even before its major boutique on the second floor.

As you get closer, Sankranti Jhoomar congratulates you. Made from hollow branches in flying crystals and curved scrolls, the piece is a bright example of the skill of bicart in glamaking. To celebrate the inauguration of the boutique, a royal 84-Light Zenith Jhoomar will be performed in a clear and red crystal on the ground floor of the shopping complex starting on 19 April.

The erstwhile Royals of India, like the Maharajas of Kapurthala, Bikaner, Indore, and Baroda, with the beauty and boldness of crystals, furnishings, decorative pieces and glass substances, since 1886, BACCARAT takes a jump with its first physical store in India. A few months later, another and a big outpost will find its way on MG Road in Delhi.

“BACCARAT shares a long and whole relationship with India. For a luxury brand that has a history, it is a strategic decision when you decide to expand a connection, especially with a historical market. You want to think twice and take the right steps,” shared by Baikrat CEO Lawrence Nicolas. She says, “We took our time to do zero on the right place, right format and right partner.”

Delhi seemed like a clear choice, Lawrence says, for a mixture of a large hunger for heritage, sophistication and luxury.

The boutique in Chankyapuri, with its delicate molding and black-and-white drotboard flooring, leaves an impression. The octagonal nickes, a tribute to the iconic pendants of the bicart chandelier, also make a regular appearance. But it is the masterpiece of the crystal maker, which takes the center stage with a heritage-medium-medium-medium esthetic. In 2001, designer Nicholas is an eye collection created by Tribolot, which is known to be deeply interested in light, technology and materials. Their work is characterized by horizontal and vertical cuts. Another collection, inspired by Lauxor, ancient Egypt and its architecture, have barware, vases, carafes and other items. Some of the prestigious pieces on the performance are the legendary Harakourt glass commissioned by Emperor Napoleon III and recently spotlight in the Netflix series, Emily in Paris,

“There is a certain Art Day Vivar that we want to share with our visitors. The brand is known for its festive spirit and happiness. India is a market where the celebration is meaningful,” Lawrence says, “Each composition reflects a delicate balance between ancestral knowledge and innovation, which holds the essence of the artistic heritage of the Buckt.”

Curns has highlighted Philip Stark’s Telerand, Virgil Abeloh’s Crystal Clear Collection, Eric Levy’s Tuile de Crystal, as well as 260th congratulations from Baikarrat, with creations from new antique, baikrat’s cooperation with famous artists and designers over the years.

“This is a win-win approach to collaborate with another brand that gives as much importance to excellence and craftsmanship as we do. I was invited to sit on Sabyasachi’s board. I would be happy to work with him, because he is talented and knows how to play with color,” Lauren confessed.

Is there an India-specific collection on the card? Lawrence said, “Our elephant liquor cabinet presented at the Paris World Fair of 1878 was a tribute by Baikart for Indian culture. We are ready to join with Indian artists to make some Bespok. French Servative Fair and Craftsmanship, and are an interesting wedding between Indian culture,” She says.

In the future, in addition to entering markets in markets like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai, Bicart aims to bring its food and drink experiences for India for Dukesay Bacarat in Paris, which is called Mid-Mine by Chef Allen Dukas.

“This is a direction that we will imagine. It is the same kind of approach we have in Hong Kong. It is our passion to offer rich experiences, through food and drink, and India is at its center. Dukase is also opened a school in Gurugram. Let’s see what the future is,” Laurence said.
