After a lot of anticipation, ‘Kesari Chapter 2’, a sequel based on Jalianwala Bagh massacre, hit theaters on 18 April. Along with Ananya Pandey, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar made a minor start at the box office, which used to collect around Rs 7.5 crore in 1 day.

While Akshay Kumar’s previous blockbusters are less inaugurated than some of the previous blockbusters, fans hope that the film will gain momentum in the weekend. Among Akshay’s highest -grossing films, ‘Housefull 4’ remains a leader with a Hindi net collection of Rs 210 crore, which sets up a high benchmark for ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ to chase. However, the strong foreign reception also played an important role in lifting a performance on its overall day, which helped the film a fair global total despite a slow domestic start.
‘Kesari Chapter 2’ recorded a net opening of Rs 7.75 crore in India, with a gross of Rs 9.25 crore. The film also performed properly in international markets, collecting Rs 5.75 crore abroad. This day brings box office collections worldwide from 1 to 15 crores.

Along with this, Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan managed to improve the mass-action drama Jait of starrer Sunny Deol, which began globally with Rs 13.50 crore globally. However, ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ is still behind Akshay’s previous release, ‘Sky Force’, which started more than Rs 20 crore worldwide on its early day in January.

‘Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jalianwala Bagh’ brings in a recreational courtroom drama contained in one of the most dark historical chapters in India. Akshay Kumar, c. Shankaran plays the role of Nair, who was a fearless lawyer, who challenged the British Empire in a adventure of justice after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. R. Madhavan depicted Advocate Neville McKinley, while Ananya Pandey stepped into the role of Dilarit Gill, leading to emotional depth in the story.
Marking the beginning of the direction of Karan Singh Tyagi, the film is supported by a powerhouse production team which includes Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective and Cape of Good Films.
