Sorivasham cast
Apart from Big B and heavenly Soundaria, it also acted in decisive parts to Jayasukh, Rachna Banerjee, Anupam Kher and Kader Khan. Sorivasham is a remake of the 1997 Tamil-language film Surya Vamsam, which tells the story of a traditional father and his illiterate yet the story of obedient son. The film follows their stressful relationship and shows how strict patriarchy causes a flow between them.
Sorivasham bombs the box office
Sorvasham flopped badly at the box office after a premiere on satellite television. The film’s dialogues and scenes have been used by fans on social media Umpteen Bar for Spuf and Mems, remember Zehar’s Kheer?
Amitabh Bachchan once opened Sorivasham’s defeat at ticket counters in an interview and said, “The film was not well received when it was released. But over the years, it has become one of my most seen films. If we knew why some work and does not work, we will only be making blockbusters.”
From the biggest flop to the most viewed film
Sorivasham was uploaded by Goldmines Entertainment on YouTube channels, collectively viewed 701 million times. Including other platforms, the film is expected to see around 100 million scenes, according to the Bollywoodlife report.
The film was made on a budget of Rs 7 crore and was raked at the box office for Rs 12.65 crore. It sold only 40 lakh tickets on release in India, but Sony Max gained a huge hold on its television telecast, where it was frequently broadcast.
The film is now available on Amazon Prime Video, which sees additional scenes from the platform.
