Pakistani actor Fawad Khan Abir Gulal should not be released in India: I & B source of Ministry

Boycott Abir Gulal: Pakistani actor Fawad Khan-starrer Abir Gulal Pahgam is making headlines after the terrorist attack, killing at least 26 tourists. The heinous attack has been dubbed as one of the deadliest in the valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike.

Amidst ongoing outrage, romantic drama – which also has Vanni Kapoor – is facing a boycott call on his casting. On Wednesday, Abir Gulal was trending on social media with the hashtag #Boycottabirgulaal.

According to IANS sources in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India, the film will not be released as a Henius attack in the valley in the country.

Sources said the film ‘Abir Gulal’, starring Pakistani actor Favad Khan, would not be allowed to be released in India.

Aarti s. Directed by Baghdi and Vivek B. Produced by Agarwal, Avantika Hari and Rakesh Sippy, the film is slaughtered for release on May 9, 2025.
Abir Gulal’s official trailer was released on April 1, with a lot of tampering in love and Rome-Com.

Talking about Fawad Khan, he made his debut in Indian cinema with a romantic comedy-drama, Sonam Kapoor-Star Khobasurat directed by Shashanka Ghosh.
He also shared screen space with Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra in the 2016 family drama Kapoor and Sons directed by Shakun Batra.
His last prominent Bollywood film Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai was Mukkil, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.

Terrorists hit a major tourist place in Pahalgam in South Kashmir on Tuesday, killing at least 26 people – most of the tourists – and many others injured.
The attack took place in Bairsaran, a beautiful meadow in Anantnag district was accessible only by legs or pony.

The terrorist attack in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir has made a call to boycott Pakistani artists and their films, which started with Abir Gulal, the upcoming Hindi release of Fawad Khan.

After the Pahalgam terror attack, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) reiterated their instructions, called for complete non-cooperation with all Pakistani actors, singers and technicians within the Indian film and entertainment industry.

According to PTI, FWIC said, “Despite the ongoing instructions, we have been conveyed with recent cooperation with Pakistani actor Favad Khan for Hindi film, ‘Abir Gulal’. ,

“In the light of the recent attack in Pahalgam, FWIC is once again forced to release a blanket boycott on all Pakistani artists, singers and technicians participating in any Indian film or entertainment projects. This includes performance or collaborations in the world.”

In 2016, after the Uri terror attack, Pakistani actors were stopped from working in the Indian film and music industry.

The Indian film fraternity strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack. Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Anupam Kher, Alia Bhatt and many celebrities, called the incident ‘heartbreaking’.
