Five years without Irfan Khan: Shujit Sirkar, Babil Khan pays tribute

One of the most loved actors of Indian cinema, Irrfan Khan, died on 29 April, 2020 five years ago. On Instagram, their Picu Director Shujit Sirkar gave a touch note remembering the actor.

Irfan played Rana, a taxi fleet owner in Kolkata in Sirkar’s 2015 comedy-drama, starring Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan.

I am sure people have loved your charm, as we all have. Here, I am fine. But I am doing it. But one thing is that you don’t know about Irfan – how much you love and miss you. You will be surprised.”

Irfan had to play the role of the hero of the historic drama of Sirkar, Sardar UdamHowever, due to his sick health, he had to pass on the project. The role eventually went to Vicky Kaushal.

Irrfan was detected neuroendocrine cancer and demanded treatment in the UK. In 2020, he died of a colon infection brought by the disease. He is alive by his two sons, Ayan and Babil, and wife Sutapa Sikdar.

Remembering his father, Babil Khan, now an actor, wrote on social media, “With you, without you.

Life goes on,

With me, without me.

Soon I will come there.

With you, not without you.

And we will walk together, and fly,

Drink from the waterfall, not pink blue.

I will tease you a lot, and I will cry,

Then we will laugh, as we used to do.

You are missing. “

In a recent interview with HinduBabil Khan talked about his father’s legacy, not as a shadow but described it as a ‘beautiful incense’.

“This is a beautiful ray of sunlight on a winter day. My father’s legacy is not just about acting. I am not trying to fill his shoes, but instead trying to be the best version of myself instead. I want to be so kind, and make a body of work that transforms people, feels alive for a moment.” Babil said.
