Malayalam short film ‘Covertie’ discovers a romance between a typewriter and a typist

What happens when a typewriter falls in love with a typist? CovalentMalayalam short film investigates this strange relationship.

The Short, directed and directed by Rajisha Vijayan, mainly directed and directed by Rohin Revendran Nair, Mummy is one of the four short films shot on the Mumbai Film Festival: Mummy Selected: Filmed iPhone programs. This is the second edition of the program in collaboration with Apple that shows the short films shot completely on iPhones. Daisy, who leaves her after her lover, leaves her, finds happiness in her relationship with the machine. Rohin says Lizo “is a big pillar of support. He told us that the script was so tight that he had hardly any change to suggest.” Lejo has also voiced the clock.

It was on Lijo’s suggestion that the film was shot at Kavalam in Alappuzha district, longer than only 30 minutes. “We scouted for places in Kochi, but did not find a place that was untouched any kind of construction work. Kavalam was perfect. The building was already but we changed the interiors.”

Rohin says that Rajisha was his only choice to play Daisy. “This is mainly due to the body of his work. Also, we have not seen him in such a role. Vimal and I were both convinced about casting as Daisy.”

Sonwane of experienced technician Swapnil and Sunil R Borker are directors of photography. In addition to the frame, those who celebrate miles, especially landscape and water, are some unique shots from within the typewriter, making them the POV of the machine. Using Plmeria flowers in the story – Rajisha wears one on her hanging hair every day, adding to the attraction of storytelling.

As a cinematographer, Rohin has shot several advertisements, non-scalp and imagination projects. This year there were 1200 entries filmed on the MAMI Select: iPhone program. Other short films elected are Hindi films TinctoriaAmrita Bagchi, directed by Marathi film Sought Chanakya Vyas, and directed by Tamil film Red watching red By Shalini Vijayakumar. The patron for these filmmakers was Vikramaditya Motavane, Konkona Sen Sharma and Vartarana respectively.

Rohin, currently located outside Mumbai, has roots in Kozhikode, Kerala. Born in Delhi and falling, he studied cinematography at Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. He has written and directed some short films. His first major work was the web series Holy game In which he was the second unit director and cinematographer for both the season. His recent release is Netflix series, Black warrantIn which he directed the third episode.

Meanwhile, Rohin plans to direct a Malayalam feature film, which is a thriller set in Wayanad, in which he is also co-writer. “Even though I am comfortable in Hindi, it is difficult to make independent films in that industry in the current scenario. And most of the good material comes in the long form. I think the ecosystem in Malayalam is better for a filmmaker.”
