Telugu superstar Nagarjuna on Friday (May 1) honored the inheritance of five stallwarts of Indian cinema and announced the launch of memorial postage stamps-namely, filmmaker Guru Dutt, Ritwik Ghatak and Raj Khosla, musician-singal-pat Salil Chaul, and Legandari Actor P. Bhanumath. The short sheet of the stamp has been designed as a special tribute by the Department of the Government of India.
Nagarjuna took a stage at the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (Waves 2025) at BKC, Mumbai. After a small introduction, he joined the stage for the launch of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Information Minister and Broadcasting, Minister of State in the Ministry, Ashwini Vaishnav and Dr. El Murugan.
“During the 55th IFFI, stamps were issued to remember the four legends of Indian cinema – Shari Raj Kapoor ji, Shri Mohammad Rafi ji, Tapan Sinha ji, and my father, Akini Najwar Rao,” said Nagarjuna. “Now on this grand global stage, we are here to celebrate another historical moment. As India is 100 years after the birth of five extraordinary visionary, whose creativity has defined the golden age of our films, paying tribute to their permanent heritage.”
He said, “A memorial of postage stamps of India of India Department of Post will release a short sheet, which will be honored to Guru Dutt ji, Ritvik Ghatak ji, Salil Chaudhary ji, Raj Khosla ji and P. Bhanmathi ji,” He said that I & B thanked the Ministry and PM Modi.
The wave summit stated several top personalities in Mumbai on 1 May, including Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Shah Rukh Khan, Chiranjeevi, Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The high-profile four-day seminar is set to bring India into India’s position as a global center for media, entertainment and digital innovation, which brings together creators, startups, industry leaders and policy makers together.
