A panel discussion was held by the famous Indian cinema stars Mohanlal, Chiranjeevi, Mithun Chakraborty, Hema Malini and Rajinikanth by Akshay Kumar at the inaugural Waves 2025 Summit.

Telugu star Chiranjeevi shared her journey in acting, starting with entertaining family and friends through dance as a child. “My inclination towards acting gradually developed, when I went to Chennai, and right from the beginning, so many legends were already. Chiranjeevi revealed her inspiration from Indian cinema. “In 1977, I was a student at the Film Institute, and I saw Mithun Da, and the performance won a national award. I took inspiration from him, not wearing makeup and looking like average boy. From Sholya, I learned to do all my stunts myself. I took inspiration from the great Amitabh Bachchan. For dancing, I inspired myself.”
When Akshay Kumar asked Mohanlal about the specific nature of Malayalam cinema, the actor explained, “There is a thin line between art and business success, but it is closely connected. The Malayalam industry has always been like this. Even our art films have got entertainment values. Even the entertainers have got the opportunity to make.”
Waves 2025 Summit was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday morning. According to Waves website, the program serves as an important platform to promote “media and entertainment industry discussion, cooperation and innovation” and its purpose is “to” bring the possibilities, discussions, challenges of industry leaders, stakeholders and new -intellectuals together, discuss challenges, promote trade in India and influence the future of the region. “
