Mumbai: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap paid an emotional tribute to cricketer Virat Kohli after announcing his retirement from Test cricket on Monday morning.
Taking on his Instagram handle, the director of ‘Gangs of Wasipur’ shared a rare throbac picture of a young Virat Kohli, depicting a star player from his early days in domestic cricket.
In the picture, Kohli is seen wearing a National Cricket Academy Jersey as he poses for the camera. While sharing the throbac photo of Virat Kohli, director Anurag Kashyap gave a heartbreaking message to the cricketer. He wrote, “This young man who went to rule the pitch and our hearts. A lot of love champion. You will miss Test cricket.”

Earlier, Virat Kohli’s actress and wife Anushka Sharma also shared an emotional note on Instagram, which reflects her husband’s journey in Test cricket.
In her post, Anushka recalled Kohli’s “tears and fights”, which no one saw.
Keeping in mind her husband’s unwavering dedication to the game of cricket, she wrote, “They will talk about records and milestones – but I remember that you never shown tears, no one saw, and unwavering love that you gave to this format of the game. I know how much it was taken from you.
Anushka also said that she estimated Virat’s retirement from international cricket among whites, such as many of her innumerable fans worldwide.
“Somehow, I always imagined that you will retire international cricket in whites – but you have always followed your heart, and so I just want to say your love, you have earned every bit of this goodbye,” Anushka said.
With the note, Anushka also shared a precious picture from Virat’s visit to Australia in 2018, where she won India’s 2–1 series win, India’s first Test series in Australia.
In his test career, Virat Kohli performed 123 in white clothes, scored an average of 9,230 runs at 46.85, 30 centuries and the best score of 31 fifty and 254*in 30 centuries in 30 centuries and 210 innings.
He is the fourth highest run-run-match in India, behind Sachin Tendulkar (15,921 runs), Rahul Dravid (13,265 runs) and Sunil Gavaskar (10,122 runs).
He made his Test debut against the West Indies in June 2011. While his first Test tour was a great disappointment with just 76 runs in five innings, a young Virat made a name for himself with some serious, counter -attack in the coming days.
His rise as a test player began in 2012 with his young woman tonne against Australia in Adelaide, when he scored 116 runs in 213 balls.
