New Delhi: Grammy-enthusiast composer Ricky Cage, who received the Padm Shri Award from President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday, shared how meaningful he seems to be honor.
Cage, a music composer and environmentalist, has won three Grammy Awards and was nominated four times. However, he says that receiving an award from his country for his overall work holds a special place in his heart.

Speaking to Annie, Cage said, “I mean, I have won three Grammy Awards in the past. And all the awards I have won have always been for a specific project, or it is a specific song, album, or something similar. It is honored by my own country, and is absolutely special by the supreme officials of my country.
The composer also shared how proud and excited his mother was.
“Oh, my mother has traveled with me for this special occasion because she was not with me for the Grammy Awards three times. But this time she traveled with me for the Padma Awards. I think, for her, it was more important than the Grammy Awards, obviously. I think it is very excited. I am very excited.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhikar, Union Minister Amit Shah, S Jaishankar, Pralhad Joshi, Jitendra Singh, G. Kishan Reddy and many other ministers and dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Padma Awards-One of the highest civilian awards of the country has been honored in one-three categories: Padma Vibhuhan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The awards are given in various subjects/activity fields, including art, social work, science and engineering, business and industry, medical, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc.
Padma Vibhan is awarded for extraordinary and reputed service; Padma Bhushan for the specific service of high order; And Padma Shri for prestigious service in any field. The awards are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day.
These awards are given by the President of India every year in the function of the ceremony given by the President.
For the year 2025, the President has approved the conference of 139 PADMA Awards, including a pair of case (including the award is counted as one). The list includes 7 Padma Vibhan, 19 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri Awards.
There are 23 of the award winners, and the list also includes 10 persons of foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI categories, as well as 13 posthumous award winners.
