New Delhi: An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft is working as AI171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed on Thursday at 1:39 PM IST after the takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
The flight was carrying 242 people. In a statement, Air India confirmed that the aircraft crashed immediately after takeoff and said 241 were confirmed fatal.
Update: Air India confirmed that AI171, a flight from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick on 12 June 2025, was involved in an accident.
The 12-year-old Boeing 787-8 aircraft left Ahmedabad at 1338 at 1338, with 230 passengers and 12 crew.

The 40 -year -old British National, the only survivor, was seen exiting the accident site and being treated at the hospital.
Among the dead, Roshni Songre, a 27 -year -old flight crew member of Dombivali in Maharashtra, was among those who lost their lives in the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash on Thursday.
Confirming his death, Maharashtra MLA Ravindra Chavan said, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic demise of Ms. Ronnie Songre from Dombivali in the devastating plane crash in Ahmedabad. During this period we stand in solidarity and pray that they have the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”

Aircraft, bearing registration number VT-ANB, commander Captain Sumate Sabarwal, a line training captain and the first officer Clive Kundar with 8,200 hours of experience, who had a 1,100-hour flight experience.
In a post on X, the Tata Group announced a compensation of Rs 1 crore for each individual’s family, which lost its life in an Air India accident near Ahmedabad.
