“People think that I only sing romantic songs, but I have a lot to introduce music and creatively. I wanted to take a very unconventional view for my music, and I think what we have done for this song is,” says the singer Arman Mallik, “Singer Arman Mallik says, who is moving out of my romance era for his next single ‘Bari’.
Released on June 18, the song is composed by his brother and long associates, Amal Mallik, and the songs were written by singer-singer Youngveer.
Armaan and his brother Amal have collaborated on other hit numbers such as ‘Main Rahoon Yes Na Raon’, ‘Bol Do Na Zara’, ‘Naina’ and more. Arman said, “We both know the taste of each other so well, that whenever we come to a room to make a song, we still get coordinated. He really knows what the song I will like, and I know he really knows the field he is going to make.” “I think we both complete each other’s sentences in a way. If I start the line, it completes it or if he starts the line, I complete it,” they say.
‘Bari’ has a gruvi, relaxed stretch that dables in Hindi and Punjabi. “I was simple. I wanted Punjabi that is consumer and can be understood by everyone in the country. As we were producing the song, we thought a Hindi-Punjabi fusion would be best fit,” he says on a phone call from Delhi.
Unlike an album, which often involves a large concept and long timeline, ‘turn acquitted’ was made with a more focused approach as a standalone single. “With a single, the advantage is that you are focusing on a song and ensure that it can be the best,” Armaan says. “There is an album a journey. It has a subject, it takes time, and there are many moving parts. Although the song was recorded a year ago, he says, he waited for the right time to release it. Notable, remarkably, the final version retains the original one-tech demo vocal recorded during the early stages of the song.
While ‘Bari Bari’ marks a fresh chapter in its independent music trip, Armaan indicates more release in the pipeline. “After this there are a lot of amazing music coming,” they say, saying that fans can expect a new track around their birthday on 22 July. He has also been working on some English pop songs that have been in the vault for some time, and are planning to take him on stage as part of a multi-trip to the end of this year.
Even when he makes his list of pop-powered tunes, Armaan is not afraid to push the envelope. “Something I have not really put out, I wrapping,” he says with a laugh. “I think it will definitely surprise many people.” A potential rap-electronic fusion is something that he is eager to experiment. “Everyone expects love songs, but no one probably will expect me to track a rap – hopefully it will be really interesting,” he concludes.
