An FIR has been filed against the film’s makers Kesari chapter 2 At Bidhanagar South Police Station in West Bengal, after allegations of incorrectly presenting historical facts related to the state’s freedom fighters.

The complaint filed by Ranjit Biswas, a resident of Nabapalli accused the film of wrongly portraying the leading Bengali revolutionaries. According to the FIR, the film refers to Khudiram Bose as “Khudiram Singh” and recognizes Barindra Kumar Ghosh from Amritsar as “Birendra Kumar”. The film is currently streaming on Jio Hotstar.
The police have registered a case under sections 352, 353 (1) (C), and 353 (2) of the Indian Judge, which consisted of deliberate insults, public mischief and circulation of false information.
Film directed and book based by Karan Singh Tyagi The case that shook the empire Raghu has criticized political and cultural circles in West Bengal by Palat and Pushpa Palat. Among the artists, Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan and Ananya Pandey are included.

The Trinmool Congress (TMC) leaders have strongly objected to the depiction. At a press conference, senior party leaders Kunal Ghosh and Arup Chakraborty called the film a “deliberate deformation” of Bengal’s role in the freedom movement.
“The names of Bengali revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence were getting distorted … This is a conspiracy to eradicate the role of Bengal in the freedom movement. How did this film get a censor certificate?” Ghosh said.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also addressed the issue during a public event, without naming the film. He said “repeated attempts were made to reduce the contribution of Bengal’s freedom fighters,” and accused the BJP of politicizing history.
The complaint also mentions the character of Hemchandra Kanungo, who is said to be replaced by a fictional figure called Kripal Singh. TMC leaders have questioned how the film was approved by the censor board and the Center demanded accountability.

The BJP has denied any participation, calling the controversy “unnecessary”. BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya said, “The names of the characters often turn into films. TMC is using it to solve political spirit.”
Actor Ritvik Chakraborty also criticized the film, stating that the inaccuracy either reflects poor research or lacks attention to expansion.
