Indy-music has become a global sound, with Indian classical music and folk besides the effects of Jazz, Sol, RNB and, various styles. On World Music Day, it is celebrated on 21 June, we spot some Indie musicians, who are constantly experimenting with sound.
Vasundhara V
Swipe, tap and repeat are new addiction. The height of unlimited information/entertainment feed, however being ignorant of a digital haze and living in FOMOS, defines a life -powered life. Jazz and Sol Singer Vasundhara V’s new single, ‘Junk the Blame’, addresses it. Earlier, this year, Vasundhara made headlines for singing at the 25th anniversary ceremony of famous fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The Mumbai-based singer is known as one of the powerhouse vocalists, which is credited with bringing time-tested styles like RNB, Sol and Jazz for the playlist of today’s youth. “A singer always has a message, which is transmitted through his personality,” says Vasundhara. As a child, Vasundhara was calm and soft -spoken. “I found my calling in the soul, jazz and blues. The music replaced me. It pushed me to communicate through words and sounds,” she says.

Noida -based singers, lyricists, rhythm guitarists, musicians and independent musicians, Abhishek Hazarika, are trained in classical (vocal), acoustic and electric guitar. His first album, BrightendashWhich includes 10 tracks, contains a grunge-rock sound, lies in classic and alternative rock sensations. Abhishek is inspired by bands like Soundguarden, screaming trees, Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkin, Nirvana, The Melvins, Oasis, Green Day, The Beatles, The Hu, Grand Phan Railroad, Jimmy Hendrix, Cream and RAM. Grunge Rock, a subgen of the 90s hard rock, originated in Seattle, the US “Granj Rock gives me the freedom to detect many styles of rock music. And that is I came with songs in my album.

Popular as Sartak Sardana, Sartek, a DJ and electronic dance-music manufacturer. He has released with major global labels and even found support in legends such as David Gueta, Tiesto and Hardwell. Over time, he realized that there was a urge to add some local to the list of his performances of sound. “I wanted to mix folk and Bollywood with house-techno and Afro. So he came with presentations that fused Indian folk tunes with electronic beats. Today, it echoes on dancesflore all over the world.” It is about creating a sound in all culture, but is designed for the future, “Saytake says.

Singer-songwriter Neil Adhikari, Pushan Kriplani and Arijit Dutta recently collaborated for their latest albums with Tiger Baby Records (Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagati and Ankur Tiwari) City session,
Pushan is a filmmaker and theater director-bane lyricist, who is synonymous with his collective Slight turnTrikdi’s debut EP, ‘Borrowing Guitar’, earned him significant praise with charts topping with track ‘Man, Boy and Lius’. When Pushan wrote his first song, he was inspired by a woman singing at Central Park, New York. “She sang in front of a small crowd with just an acoustic guitar. The songs were her own, yet appealed to the people that due to the simplicity of its singing,” he remembers.
Singer-songwriter Arijit Dutta is a Hindi-Indindi band, a airport frontman, known for his blues, avoctive sounds. “The sound of the airport feels like a house. It keeps the weight of everything I lived – silence, anarchy and search. This style gives me freedom to be myself, which I can’t make orally clear. Creating music is my way to be connected to my origin,” he said.
Neil Adhikari is the artist behind the initial track of Netflix Small things And Modern love: MumbaiNeil spread his music into two areas – background scores and songs. He dislikes the classification of music and finds himself difficult to imagine to stick to a style. He says that he is ready for some textures and sounds. “If it comes from a device that contains wood and wires, it usually looks good for me. My songs also have a lot of acoustic guitars, guitails, bunjo and now mandolin,” they share. Neil also prefers analog sink and collision from non-instance that seems interesting. His songs are essentially a drama using simple language. Quite often, one in his songs finds a deep or dark word to a chirpi tune. “I love the voice of the existence and sadness of opposite elements in a composition. As a traveling, I enjoy this process, but I am also aiming to the goal-oriented and I break my back that is trying to get a sound, which I have imagined, which I have imagined,” he said.
