Indian-Oro Rapper Genesis Yasmin Mohanraj face backlash on the black ma depiction in clear music video

New Delhi: Indian-hero rapper Tommy Jenesis has come to the fire on its latest music video. Tommy Genesis – whose real name is Usanmin Mohanraj – recently released a video for his song True Blue, and has raised widely resentment on many people, including many accused of cultural appropriation.

In the video, Mohanraj Hindu Goddess Kali Maa is seen wearing blue body paint, heavy gold ornaments and a red dot. The Canadian artist is seen holding a cross, licking it, and posing with it-such actions further extended the dispute.

Song True Blue is part of his upcoming album, Genesis. In now-viral clips, she wears a gold bikini, golden stiltos, and is seen beating his hands in a ‘Namaste’ gesture at a point, performing clear tricks in other scenes.

How did the Internet react?

Reactions in social media were fast and scary:

A user called the video “derogatory”

Another wrote, “Our goddess is not your dress … what recognition do you want?”

One third commented, “It’s pathetic! Stop implementing Hindu culture for choice.”

Another user said, “Applicating Hindu culture is a new trend for these so -called Western people.”

A commentator wrote, “Yikes. And the fact that you thought it was good – LMAO.”

Another said, “You are truly using Hindu gods for beauty and clot. Remove it.”

Read in a tweet: “This origin is Yasmin Mohanraj. He is a Canadian citizen of Malayalam, Tamil and Swedish dynasty. He is likely to be intentionally performed in the Indian heritage that this depiction was done intentionally. It is a condemnation.”

Another person expressed disappointment: “He is a Canadian artist with Indian roots – from Kerala and Tamil Nadu. His new song openly makes fun of both Hindu and Christianity. It is not creativity, it is a pure insult.”

Origin Yasmin Mohanraj?

Genesis Yasmin Mohanraj, professionally known as Tommy origin, was born in Vancouver, Canada. He belongs to the Tamil and Swedish dynasty, in which it is back to Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

His music often examines subjects of gender, sexuality and rebellion. He has previously described himself as a “fetish rapper”. In 2016, he was described by an international publication as “the most rebel underground rap queen” of the Internet.
