New Delhi: Actor-singer Diljit Dosanj is ready to make academic history, now it will be the subject of a university course. Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) in Canada has announced that Dosanjh will be painted in its curriculum, recognizing their important impact on global pop culture.
The course will be introduced through the Creative School at TMU and was officially announced by the Northeast (NXNE) Festival in Toronto during the Billboard Summit in the north.
According to the Billboard, the course will focus on the “cultural, music and migrant relevance” of the body of Diljit and is about to be launched in the fall of 2026.
The course will investigate how regional music, such as Punjabi sound, shapes global pop culture and attachs migrant communities worldwide.
Assistant Professor of The Creative School, Dr. Charlie Wall-Andrews said, “Toronto Metropolitan University is excited to do a course on Diljit Dosanj, whose travel is a symbol of the intersection of culture, identity and global music entrepreneurship. Their rise reflects cultural influence and economic potential around the world. The community, and the authenticity contribute to the permanent creative economies.”

Diljit started his career in Punjabi music in 2002 and especially for his 11th album goat’s release for prominence, which earned him a place on the Billboard Social 50 Chart. He later earned a significant praise for his roles in Bollywood, Udta Punjab, Good News and 2023 film Amar Singh Chakkila. He also made history as the first Punjabi artist to perform at the Kachela concert in 2023.
On the professional front, Diljit will be seen next time in Sardar G3. The film has discussed to cast Pakistani actress Hania Aamir despite a ban on Pakistani actors working in India. Indian film bodies have also called for a ban on the project and the actor.
