Lord Jagannath
The idols of Lord Jagannath depict the characteristics of a large, square -shaped head, large eyes and incomplete organs. There are many legends related to how Prabhu came to live in the Puri temple in Bhubaneswar. One of the popular stories that is associated with it, explains why the hands and limbs of the idols of God are incomplete.

Incomplete hands
It is believed that there was once a king named Indradumna, who wanted to build the temple of Lord Vishnu, but was not certain about the size of the idol that would represent the Lord. Then he was asked by Lord Brahma to pay attention and pray to Lord Vishnu, what form he would like to incarnate.

God appeared in his dream
After deep meditation, God appeared in his dream and talked about a special floating wooden log near the Bankuhana in Puri and his image would be made from that log. After this dream, Indradumna reached the spot and found the wooden log. However, for his surprise, he did not find his artists to get the idols out of it – no difference.

Vishwakarma
The artisans’ equipment broke every time when they tried to cut the log. This was the point when Anant Maharana (carpenter Bishvakarma/Vishwakarma) appeared and offered to help. However, there was a condito in Bishwakarma

Indramanma
He said that he should not be disturbed while taking it out of the idol until he is finished. Therefore, for two weeks, he appointed himself to divine work in a closed podium without any obstruction. But after two weeks, suddenly the sound of work stopped coming from inside the podium, in which Indradumna’s wife – Gundcha said he would have to go in and investigate whether he is fine.

Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra worshiped incomplete
Although the king did not want it, he had no choice but to enter inside. However, for their surprise, when they came in, they did not find any carpenter and only for incomplete sculptures. He immediately repeated his act. But a divine voice – perhaps Lord Vishnu himself, told the king that he should not regret it and install incomplete idols and the Lord will see himself to the devotees in this form. Ever since, the idols of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and his sister Subhadra are worshiped.

Shri Gundcha Temple
In the month of Asada (June or July), the idols are brought on a rude stick and a visit to the Sri Gundcha temple in huge chariots. In millions, devotees climbed the streets to get a glimpse of God on the streets and take their blessings.

The temple of Puri is beautifully adorned during this festival time as thousands of devotees go out to visit the divine residence of the Lord and take the blessings of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra.
