Exclusive: Suchitra Krishnamurthy on making history with motherhood, fame and drama queen

New Delhi: Artist, actor, writer, and a lawyer for the creative Freedom, Suchitra Krishnamurthy is in the news with his groundbreaking project, Drama Queen, The Musical Play. This is a vibrant adaptation to their bestseling book and solo stage performance, marking Audible’s first Indian music audiobook. In a special conversation with Zee News, Suchitra opens about expression, femininity, fame and upbringing.

Q1. You have converted your single stage play drama queen into India’s first audio music. What inspired you, and what do you expect young women, in particular, take away from this performance?

“I think, first of all my enthusiasm is better, I can reach millions of people in you through a platform, so that it is really very exciting for me, I have been called from my friends and I have got DMS from Spain, London and New York and my cousin has told me that I have told me that I am a lot of people to reach so many people. Q2 was the ‘Drama Queen’ inspired by your real life?

Q3. You started your film in front of Shah Rukh Khan, now do you ever feel a bridge to return to film production?

Q4. If the drama queen was ever optimized in the film or OTT series, whom would you like to play you?

Q5 You entered the film industry without any support. What is your ‘Star Kids’ and the current generation of brother -in -law?

Q9. How do you define modern Indian women compared to traditional people and do you think the drama queen echoes?

“I think the drama queen will especially echo the very large spectrum of women and at the same time people and cultural and societies who are hesitant to express yourself, like the ‘Drama Queen’, ‘I am just like this’, so I think I think there is an acceptance that people can give themselves”

Q10. In a previous interview, you talked about how Bollywood has changed a lot, and you have mentioned Urfi Javed as an example of that shift. Today, Urfi won Karan Johar’s reality show The Treakers. Do you think this kind of visibility is now promoting Bollywood?

“I think visibility today is a criteria for success, so as I said that it is not about caliber or it’s anything about the eyeball. I am happy for him, I don’t know what you are talking about, but yes, now everything is just about grabbing the eyeball, but now it is the criteria for success, now it is how it can not fight.

Q11. As a mother, and someone who speaks so powerful about femininity and creative freedom that recently what are your views on the debate by Deepika Padukone’s request for 8 hours of workday after maternity?

“See that everyone has the right to demand, and everyone has the right to reject, so I think there is nothing wrong with Deepika and the manufacturers do not accept anything wrong with not accepting it, you know that there are many options that both parties are, so they are very different and people want to work, you know that, someone will speak, someone wants to speak, what you want to do is what you want and you want to do. The demands are valid and I think all rejections for those demands are also valid in rejecting it.

Q12. Your daughter Kaveri recently made her film debut. How do you guide him in this world as a mother and someone who has seen outside the industry?

“I don’t interfere, I think she likes to make her choice and she makes her decision anyway, so whatever I can do is everything can be if I need.

Q13. Recently, you had to face criticism for a post, questioning the identity of Air India Crash Surveys – something that you later apologized after realizing that it was based on wrong information. What were your immediate views as a backlash?

“See that I was quoting a journalist, I thought it was authentic, it was my fault that I had not verified, now I will verify 10 times, surely it was a mistake, well, I forgiven and what I can do, it was such a sensitive matter, I think I accept it to be more wrong. I saw it.

Q14. The drama queen is related to grief, reinforcement and creative freedom. After all, how do you help find your own voice and strength in making this drama?
